We’ve been in the web design business long enough to know that you rarely get a huge amount of time to complete a new website.
Don’t get us wrong - it does happen. But, more often than not, the Newedge team has no choice but to work to tight deadlines… and does so brilliantly.
In some cases, those deadlines are pretty extreme. Take The Window Emporium project we’ve been working recently, for instance. We had just four weeks to turn it around from initial idea to lead-generating website!
That sounds like the sort of challenge we relish!
We’re big believers in the KISS principle.
Keeping it simple, stupid, is a motto we live by (although no one at Newedge can be referred to as the latter!), and that mantra is something we had to rely on, big time, when it came to the Window Emporium project.
Based in Irthlingborough, Northants, Window Emporium have spent years supplying and fitting the best quality windows and doors throughout the county. They provide a personable service that doesn’t rely on high-pressure sales - a strategy that has resulted in steady growth and lots of very happy customers.
That heritage and customer-focused strategy needed to shine through on their new website, without it becoming too salesy. And that’s a challenge, when one of the main aims of the website is to provide as many leads for the business as possible.
So, how do you create a lead-generating website without making it ‘too salesy’? You call on Newedge!
Using the power of the Silverstripe CMS, the Newedge team set about creating a block-based design for the new Window Emporium website.
This enabled us to create a homepage that was clean and packed only with the key services offered by the company. There’s no hard-sell, either - just engaging visuals and clear calls-to-action (CTAs) that are designed to guide people to the most appropriate area of the website.
Every journey taken on the new website has one destination in mind - the contact us page, which is featured obviously throughout the entire website. Most notably, users will find it ever-present at the top of the page under the tempting heading ‘get a free quote’.
Our design team have also done a brilliant job creating a touch-ready interface that works perfectly on mobile devices. With over 50% of the web’s users now using their smartphones, Window Emporium needs to be ready for a raft of potential customers who will be using their fingers rather than a mouse pointer. That’s why every CTA button features a design that indicates the ability to swipe, thus encouraging user interaction, no matter the device they have to hand.
At the time of writing, content is being loaded onto the new Window Emporium website, but we’re delighted with the way the Newedge team responded to such a tight deadline, and we can’t wait to watch as the leads begin flooding through for yet another happy customer!
