Milton Keynes (MK)
Milton Keynes – A fantastic town in Buckinghamshire
Often called MK, Milton Keynes is a vibrant and large town located in the county of Buckinghamshire and is popular with London commuters. Milton Keynes was formally designated in 1967 as a new town but with the growth expectations of becoming a well known City. There are approx 15 villages that make up MK along with a busy shopping centre it’s certainly got something for everyone’s tastes and budgets.
The radical design plan of MK proves popular with city goers from all over the world. Designed in a grid fashion the road network has Horizontal and Vertical roads connected by endless roundabouts. Beautiful parklands have been built to overcome the flood plains of the Great Ouse. The urban area of the city has over 20 million trees and follows the initial vision for a “forest city” which is far from the concrete jungle we see in many of today’s modern cities.
Entertainment is the city is non-stop. The SnowZone provides nightclubbing, bars, pubs, shopping, indoor skiing and indoor skydiving. There is also bowling in the City Limits complex along with arcade machines and fantastic facilities. The shopping centre has miles of shops, catering for every taste and budget, from high street brands to luxury fashion shops, MK Centre has it all.
The open air National Bowl holds over 65,000 people and is used for large events all throughout the year, with exciting bands, acts and DJs performing regularly there is sure to be a show in town to amaze you! MK Theatre holds 1,400 people and is home to shows like “The Sound of Music” and Christmas Pantomime favourites. There is so much to see and do in Milton Keynes that you will never be disappointment!
